Global Education Office is committed to preparing global citizens by providing innovative and high quality international learning experiences for UNM’s international students. We recognize that the human element is one of the most important of any international experience. However, adjusting to the new cultural climate can be very difficult for international students and scholars. GEO has designed various programs to help international students and scholars easier transition into their new life. These programs are designed to keep the international population of UNM involved as an active participant in all aspects of life.
The Global Education Office (GEO) provides services to international students and scholars coming to UNM, coordinates opportunities for UNM students to study overseas and offers intensive English language programs to students interested in studying in the U.S.
As an advocate for international programs on campus, GEO helps to prepare UNM faculty, administrators, and students to understand and work effectively in a complex and rapidly changing global community.
GEO sponsors many activities in order to provide students with opportunities to meet other international and domestic students in a fun atmosphere. These events provide new cultural experiences as well as an enjoyable release from the stress of classes and living in a different country.
Each semester GEO holds event s to celebrate diversity and rich cultures of UNM’s International students. These fun cultural events are organized with the goal of integrating international and domestic students in a truly global environment. These events are a great opportunity for students to share their culture and tradition with other students.
As an advocate for International programs on campus, GEO provides many services to international students and scholars including a great variety of workshops throughout the semester. These workshops are ranging from cultural discussions and practical information sessions to work and immigration related workshops. During the spring semester, GEO offers TAX workshops and manages VITA site to help students fill out their tax forms.
