Check in: You should check in with your department as soon as possible to let them know you have arrived. Your department will assist you in scheduling a J-1 Scholar Orientation at GEO.
Orientation: J-1 Scholar Orientation takes place every Wednesday from 10am until 12pm at GEO, located at 2120 Mesa Vista Hall. You or your department can contact us directly to register for orientation. It is required that you attend orientation within 30 days of the start date on your DS-2019. Failure to attend will jeopardize your immigration status. At orientation, you will meet with an international advisor and receive a packet of handouts with useful information regarding your stay in the U.S., including a post-arrival checklist that outlines what you should most immediately address upon your arrival.
